Elementary combinatorics: Summation and product symbol
Properties of the summantion symbol
Suppose that \(a_1=2\) and \(\displaystyle \sum_{j=2}^{9}a_j=13\). Use this equalities and the properties of the summation sign to calculate the sum below.
\(\displaystyle\sum_{j=2}^{9}(a_j+3)={}\)
\(\displaystyle\sum_{k=1}^{9}\frac{a_j}{2}={}\)
\(\displaystyle\sum_{k=0}^{8}a_{k+1}={}\)
